Looking For A Wireless Printer (Requirements)

    guys,

im running NTL 6mb broadband in my house, well the sitting room to be exact as thats where the TV point comes in.

i have the NTL modem connected to a D-Link router which i have my laptop connect to no probs as such.

now im ok with the laptop in the sitting room and that but there is no way the girlfriend (she that must be obeyed) will allow a printer in the sitting room!

so ive decided to place a wireless printer upstairs in one of the bedrooms out of the way, and i just need to know what i need to get it working?

doing some searching on here, i know to stay away from lexmark printers due to their high ink useage and high cost of ink replacement!

can anybody advise me on what i need to get it working or is it just a case of getting a wireless printer and connecting it to my router?

next question is can anybody recommend me a printer?

my needs are as follows :

need colour (as i will be printing autocad drawings, site plans out etc etc)
A3 would be fantastic but i understand A3 is expensive to buy.

thats it, sorry for the long novel, thanks for reading (if anybody does :D)

Instead of getting a wireless printer, another option is to get a wireless print server, which you can connect to a wide range of normal USB printers. See http://compnetworking.about.com/od/wireless/ss/wirelessgear_4.htm for more info.

ummm that opens some other doors for me, there is an unused Dell A920 (i think) colour printer in my dads sitting dormant for the last 3 years, may just siege that and get the server as above.

i have found the lynskys one on ebay at a good price, but how would i know if it will work with my printer?
    thanks.

Don't get this one: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=346665 It's f**king sh|t. Doesn't like large (excel) printouts. Prints one, than a half, and well, pisses you off.

    Got this: http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=MME235C518

Plugs straight into my router. Try to get a printer that has an ethernet port, as opposed to a wireless one. The one I has also has the wireless option, but use the ethernet option, as other laptops connect to the router, so meh.

my problem is that i cannot get a printer that connects straight to my router as my router is in my sitting room under the TV and i dont want a printer in the sitting roo, want to put the printer up in the attic bedroom out of the way if you know what i mean.

thanks for the advice on the first option though.

I know you said you were looking for something A3, but that will cost ya I reckon.

For budget stuff, Tesco (in Ashbourne anyway) are doing a Lexmark inkjet Wifi printer for €59. Not bad if it's just for printing the odd thing here and there. (I know you said you wanna stay away, but for 60 quid it'd be silly NOT to consider one!?!?)

PC World had the SAMSUNG CLP-315W before Xmas for around the €200 mark and it's a Colour Laser with Wifi so better quality and still cheap enough!

The wireless print server and a seperate A3 printer may be a better option if you want that size.

Epson Stylus Photo 1400 does A3 and is about €300 but has no WiFi??
