A group of us (lads) are heading to Carrick for a weekend and I was wondering if anyone can recommend something decent to do during the day. We have our nights all sorted but would like to have something planned to do on the Saturday/Sunday daytime instead of just sitting around waiting to go out on the piss at night!

    Any advice??

The Dock is an Arts Centre located at the old courthouse, usually has some interesting exhibitions, gigs etc.

You could try the Moon River boat for an afternoon cruise, or rent a boat from Emerald Star or Carrick Craft (not sure if they're closed for winter though)

There's loadsa nice places to go for lunch, e.g. the Boardwalk cafe in The Landmark Hotel, Victoria Hall, the Oarsman Pub, the Larder in market yard.

There's a few nice clothing shops for younger men in the town, try Area 54 on Bridge Street and GA Gerard Anthony 2 @ the mulvey centre

Arigna Mining Museum is nearby, meant to be really interesting, check out www.arignaminingexperience.ie

The mulvey centre on the roscommon side of town has a bowling alley & amusements. www.mulveycentre.ie

the cinema is really nice, won an award for best independent cinema this year, you can rent out screens for private screenings and has a cafe/wine bar and new pool tables upstairs, www.carrickcineplex.ie

    enjoy your stay!!

Area 54 has closed and moved to sligo and the cimema is closed due to flooding not due to reopen until late feb/early march.

Paintballing in Leitrim village but check to see if they are still open after the floods

There is a Shooting place in Carrick and a Golf club for the lads. Also, the Mulvey centre is a good spot for bowling, amusements etc
