recommend me a router

ok i'm with upc and just use the modem and a switch, i'm gonna be movin my pc so want to use wireless so can anyone rec a good router, thanks for the replies

- same thing ( same cpu , linux dd-wrt preinstalled ) but this model has an integrated radio amplifier-- so better wi-fi coverage range )

another question about routers, is G limited to what speed ya can get from it, i think i remember watty sayin that the most ya would get would be 5 or 6 mbs, what would i need to get the 20 mb

The 'n' standard is the latest one and you can read all about it here:

To get its benefits though your wireless cards or usb dongles would also have to be 'n' standard.

Reviews I have read so far of 'n' equipment have generally found that the throughput is nowhere near the claimed standards.

My belkin mimo router couldn't hack ntl:(
Downstream was lest than 8mbit.

good thats what i wanted to hear, what did ya get

ended up using the netgear router that ntl supplied. the signal isn't as strong(range) ,but the speed is grand(19mbit).
Re-routed my original ethernet to the new point for the far machines.

I'd go with netgear. We've had one going 24/7 for nearly 4/5 years and it's only starting to give out now.

I'd avoid Belkin like the plague. Had one in a house I shared and it had to be restarted every day and it was running the lastest firmware.

I got a Linksys WRT54GS and it has been restarted once since I moved in to my current house.

i've not tried a dongle with the 20mbit connection ,i'd expect with the likes of vista that a dongle would slow things down.

just checked a dongle and getting about 18mbits through vista http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=346660
