Never seen anythin like it tbh.
    Checkpoint at:

    Mill Street
    Domnick Street
Cross Street (At top of Taxi Rank)
Opposite that Church just up from Supermacs Cross St.

Funny enough they only seemed interested in Taxi/Hackneys? They were looking in the window and shining their torch on the ID's of all the drivers

Anyone got the inside scoop? :D

Well, according to the Taxi drivers, there are a lot of "fake" taxi/hackneys out there, so maybe a crack down, there was one before.

That was my guess too since they were only pulling taxi/hackneys and pointing their attention to ID's etc.

Its probably to make sure they get every penny out of the drivers after the fare increase, all the meters get reprogramed and then tested and sealed, a lot of drivers dont get them sealed because it costs €91.
Also from 1st Jan all taxi must carry safety equipment, - fire extinguisher,hi vis vest, torch, warning triangle, first aid kit and pen and paper..

I could easily observe that the sounds made by the white models in earlier years have about as much similarity with Queens English as the 09 model you describe. FFS, grow up.

Returning to the topic, the checkpoint also had "branches" in Prospect Hill and Merchant's Road, with a similar level of interest in taxis/hackneys. They featured some older more experienced looking gardi that I've ever seen on the streets of Galway.

Drugs........the boys are looking for Drugs.
Inconspicious daytime running/courier'ing of drugs in hackneys - go figure.
