For example if I wanted to copy and paste a file name called pictures or movies or is there a way of doing this without your computer thinking your trying to copy the entire program or file , I just want to copy and paste the names of the files

errr... if you mean like you have a list of all your files and you want to copy the name of one of the files (in my documents or the like)

try hitting f2 on your keyboard, or right click on the file name and click on rename. This will edit the name of the file, at which time you can click ctrl c or right click on the highlighted text and click on copy.

if you want a copy of all the files in one directy biggins suggest looks good.
(though personally i would do it alot simplier and open a ms dos cmd prompt, goto that folder, and type something like dir > filelist.txt)

If you mean grab the actual name of the program from the application itself, for example "Is there a way of copying and pasteing the names of your programs - boards.ie - Mozilla Firefox" for this window... yes there is - but its a lot more complex. let us know.

Ah i didnt pick up on the last line :(

how i would do it would be:

    1) goto the folder in windows that you want to copy from, copy the address of where the files are (eg c:\documents and setings\vampirekiss\my documents\movies)
    2) click on Start then Run (or press the start key and R)
    3) type in: cmd
Will have the MS DOS prompt open
    4) type: cd c:\documents and setings\vampirekiss\my documents\movies
(can type cd then a space, and then right click in the black dos screen and click on paste to paste the address from step one) and hit enter
    5) type: dir /B > fileslist.txt
    6) type: exit (or close that window)
    And your done.

Go back into the folder where the files were and you will hav ea new file called fileslist.txt with which you can do what you like.

Give it a shot if you cant figure out biggins suggestion.
