Ok so this is a kind of a long story, so here it goes.

I damaged the screen on my 160GB iPod classic last august. So in the meantime i used an iPod touch for listening to music. However, my music collection is constantly growing, so i eventually began to run out of room on my Hardrive for music, so i began to use the broken classic as an external Hardrive for music. Basically what i did was, i set the iPod to manually manage songs and music, i transferred everything onto the iPod, and the deleted it from my hardrive. Kinda risky keeping all my eggs in one basket, but there you go.

Soon enough my iTouch, too became too small for my collection, and this bothered me as obviously i couldnt have all my music with me at all times. So i eventually gritted my teeth, apologised to my wallet, and forked out the €110 for the new screen and fitting etc. I handed my iPod in yesterday to the apple store, and it was still fulfilling its duties as the HD for music etc. However, i have it back today, and its telling me that it cant read the ipod and i need to restore it. I assume once i restore it, it will be fine but im worried about all the music i have on there.

Senuti, can read the iPod fine, so i can get the music off. But like i said, i dont have enough HD space for all the music and files that are on it. So at long last, what i am really asking is, does the restore button completely wipe the iPod? as in including the area being used as a Hardrive?

Also, just on a sidenote, when damaging the LCD screen i also damaged the case, so my iPod is black case and select button with a white scroll wheel. The guy in the shop said they were never made like that, so iguess my iPod is unique:)

    Thanks to anyone who reads!

Restoring will completely erase your ipod and restore it to it's factory default settings.

    Thanks for the read :D
