Doing an AV fit out for somone and they want a decent 1080p Projector. Budget is €1k-€2k. Only ones I have seen are the likes of the InFocus IN80 and X10.

The setup will be something like

    Onkyo 806 AV Amp
    5.1 or 7.1 speakers
    pull down screen
variable positions available for projector on the celing
    42" Panny TV
HDMI splitter spliting the signal from the AMP between the projector and TV
BluRay player (goign in to the amp)
Sky+ (going in to thr amp to be scaled up)

Some quality projectors in this budget range are the Sanyo PLV-Z700 & Mitsubishi HC5500. I am currently trying to source a Mitsubishi HC5500 and received one quote in the region of €1250 (inc. VAT and delivery) from UK.

Cheers. Spotted a second hand HC6000 for sale on adverts.ie but I get the feeling that the 5500 has gained good ground on it.

I'd choose the 5500 over the HC6000. Newer model meaning newer technology.

One thing to keep in mind if you are an installer and will be somewhat responsible for the install and equipment. As with alot of projector manufactures such as Mitsubishi Ireland, they will not stand over any warranty's for projectors purchased in the UK and you will need to return the unit to the UK if any problems arrise.

Came across this before with the HC4900 which Mitsubishi Ireland did not have in its HT projector line-up. All HC4900 originated from the Mitsubishi UK. Two different companies.

This can be an important issue if you will be taking responsibility for the equipment you install as any problems with the projector could result in having to ship it back to the UK?

Another point would be if the location of the projector is restrictive, remember the HC5500 only has vertical lens shift and need to be directly behind the screen, if this is an issue then the Z700 with both Vertical and horzontal shift might be a better choice.

Other models to concider would be BenQ W5000, Optoma HD80, Optoma HD800x. These are all available now for below the 2K mark.

The work is for my dad so its a blance between bang for buck and issues like the warrenty. The room is ideal so placemnet wont be an issue other then finding joists to attach to ;)

    Thanks for the info.

Its out dated by the X10 as far as I can tell.
