    hi,
myself and my girlfriend are planning heading to thailand on holidays for 3weeks in may. just wondering what destinations people would recommend and how many destinations to visit? we were thinking just bangkok and koh samui or bangkok and phuket.

if anyone has any accomodation recommendations or good websites it would be appreciated.

    thanks

Stay away from Phukett not a nice place at all...I think you should head north to chang mai for a few days theres loads to see and do(check out flight of the gibbon) me and my girlfriend stayed in MD House tis easily the best place up there has a pool and the guy Sunny is great really helpfull. Id suggest heading to phi phi and maybe onto krabi for a few days then to a place called kanchanaburi just north of bangkok for a day or two before ye go home and leave a couple of days at the end for bangkok you might not like it at first but after a day or two it will defo grow on you.

    Hmmm

Phuket isnt THAT bad (i mean the island, not the town. The town is crap). a bit tacky and all but not the hole you describe! But in the 3 weeks, its probably worth a miss.

OK so here is what I would recommend:

Day 1: arrive in Bangkok, chillax get over jet lag.
Day 2: Bangkok, do touristy stuff (Grand Palace, the market etc) get night train to Chang Mai.
Day 3. Arrive in Chang Mai. Go stay in SK house. Arrange trekking
    Day 4. Go Trekking
    Day 5. Trekking
Day 6. Return to Chang Mai. Shower.
Day 7. Do nothing. Trekking will be tiring.
Day 8. Fly from Chang Mai to Bangkok.
    Day 9. Kanchanaburi
Day 10. Return to Bangkok and fly from Bangkok to Krabi (or get bus from BKK, takes a long time though). Get boat from Krabi to Phi Phi.
    Day 11. Phi Phi
    Day 12. Phi Phi
    Day 13. Phi Phi
Day 14. Leave Phi Phi and spend whole day getting to Koh Phangnan (Boat-Bus-Boat)
    Day 15. Koh Phangnan
    Day 16. Koh Phangnan
Day 17. Get boat to Koa Samui
    Day 18. Samui
    Day 19. Samui
    Day 20. Samui
Day 21. Fly Samui to Bangkok (Bangkok Airways) and catch your return flight home.

Obviously this is v. rough and depends how much you want to spend on internal flights. you can get buses between Bangkok and the islands but these take AGES. and if you only have 3 weeks, you mightnt want to waste days on buses and recovering from buses!!

This itinerary has the advantage of being busy in the first half, but loadsa beach time at the end to recharge the batteries before you head home...

same price as here really. low fares airlines, about e60 return. Better airlines e120 return...

Just don't fly with Phuket air. Seriously dodgy safety record. same as 1-2-go before they got grounded for safety issues.
