LCD issues on laptop

I have a Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop thats a little over 4 years old now. Its still working brilliantly and has never given any trouble till now.

The LCD screen developed a single purple line (about 1 pixel wide) down the screen. I reseated the screen, the cable and dusted out all around it but it didn't help. Now there are 3 more lines, each a different colour all near it.

Anyone got any ideas on what to do or how to get it fixed?

Replace the screen. Sorry no quick fixes.

At 4+ years old i think it could be time to cut your losses and buy a new laptop. If you can live with the line, then it'll be grand. But replacing the screen could be costly, and at 4+ years old i'd say it's getting to the stage where components will begin to fail on you.

I'd rather not get rid of it. There's nothing at all wrong except with the screen. I think it wouldn't be a good decision to buy a new one - kinda waste of money. What I have is brilliant (2GB memory, 120GB HD, and a 3.14Ghz CPU) for what I need.
