Egypt for a week

Hey - Me & my partner are hoping to head to Egypt for a week in the beginning of February sometime and after looking on various travel agent websites, I'm a bit puzzled over the best place to stay... I don't really have the time to go to a travel agent so will be booking online, and all companies I've emailed since about December on this have not replied!
Can anyone perhaps you has been to Egypt or heard about it from friends etc., let me know the best place to perhaps stay, and what would be the best value for money. Also, what would be the best travel agent to go with.. and most importantly, is the weather generally good in Egypt in February!?

    I appreciate any reply... :)

It is hot all year round and february it should be about 30degrees every day.

I went with falcon holidays and stayed in Sharm. I have always been impressed with falcon/first Choice so I would be as bold as to say that if it is in their brochure it should be ok.

We went to Egypt last year in May and we loved it. We stayed in Luxor the reason we went there was because there was more things to do, there is the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Hatshepsut, Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Luxor Museum and the papyrus museum. They are also ballon rides over the nile.

We went with budget travel and we stayed in the Nile palace, which had about 5 restaurants and another hotel was next door called the St George I think with another 3 or 4 restaurants. Both hotels were very nice.

Weather will be still be very warm so don't worry about that. Have a nice time.

I went to Egypt a couple of years ago with my boyfriend, we loved it its such a beautiful place. We stayed in Luxor as it really is very central to a lot of sights. We also arranged a day trip up to Cairo to see the Pyramids etc, we flew up and down in one day and I must say was probably the best flight I have been on, I was a bit apprehensive as we had heard a lot of bad stories about Trains and Planes internally in Egypt but we thought it was great. We stayed in the Sheraton, DO NOT STAY THERE, it really does not live up to the expectations that goes with a Sheraton Hotel. There was a hotel in the centre of the town that was getting great praise by some people that we met out there but I cant remember the name of it sorry maybe someone else might know it??

We went to Luxor in 2007, stayed in Movenpick Crocodile island. Private 5 star resort on a private island on the nile, approx 2.5miles out of luxor. It was beautiful, 5 star and not very expensive. Booked it with Budget Travel. It was great to have a large private area (walks, 2 pool areas, outdoor bars) to chill out in as the locals can be fairly full on in your face when you're in the town.

All said it was a great holiday, also did the day flight to cairo, €300 if i remember correctly. worth it though.

Thanks for the advice, even more eager to go now! Decided we are going to book with Falcon, and perhaps stay in the Coral Sea resort in Sharm... not too sure what it is like, but it seems to have gotten good reviews. Will let ye know how this works out :)

I stayed in the holiday village, Coral sea oasis. i believe they are very close to each other.

Several guys i dived with were staying at the Coral Sea resort and they liked it, although the food (As was the case with ours) can be a bit disappointing at times.

The entertainment reps are the same for both hotels and they are very good, we really enjoyed our two weeks in Sharm.

I stayed in the Coral Sea with my friend last October and had a ball... yes the food (all-inclusive) gets a little monotonous after a while, but you will get that anywhere. From talking to other people in Sharm, it seemed to be one of the better hotels.

We had a great time, and would definitely return to it, so enjoy!!

I travelled in Egypt for 2 weeks in 2006 with www.exodus.co.uk

    Very intensive but worth it.

The Movenpick get a great big +1 from me.
Stayed there several times, always excellent.
It's changed hands though, and is now the Maritim Jolie Ville

    +1 from me too.
Also stayed there last year. Great hotel, so nice to have a retreat to go to after the hustle of Luxor.
Very reasonable price too as far as I can remember.
We booked 2 weeks there with breakfast mid june and it was around 600 euro per person.

Luxor is such an interesting place, from the sights, to the food and people its just a great experience.
Also booked a flight to Cairo for the day with egyptair and was great. Cant really remember the price but it was very good. The trick is to pick Egypt as your country on the website when booking. Much cheaper that way.

Would love to return there again soon!!

    Update:

Holidayed there for 2 weeks in Cairo/Luxor/Red Sea(Sharm, Sharks Bay).

If you can avoid staying in Cairo, please do. A better choice would be to stay in Luxor and travel to Cairo for one day and get out of it again (see my post here - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=58600356&postcount=145)

Always warm / hot there as far as I know. Fantastic holiday all told, booked with Toolin travel in Leixlip. Cairo was interesting because of its craziness, but not a place to go back to.

    Update:

So I thought I would share my trip to Egypt here. Ended up going to Sharm El Sheikh, and stayed in the Coral Sea Resort. Booked all-inclusive with Falcon Holidays. Only came back last week and had a ball! The hotel was AMAZING, even I was surprised, I really hadn't been expecting the hotel to be so clean, the staff so so friendly, and the food was also pretty fab which was a delight. To be honest, we had been pre-warned to stay away from Cairo so I did, we went Quad biking in the desert one of the days and it was a great experience, and also hired bikes out another day and cycled between resorts which was great, but mostly we took a well deserved break and sat by the pool/walked on the private beach. The room was very nice and were cleaned daily. Flew out with Monarch airlines, which were nice to fly with... also the weather was 28-30 everyday except one day was 25 due to some clouds! Thanks for everyones input as it really encouraged me to go..
