Aren't too many Pinarello dealers around. Cyclesuperstore sell them, but they're charging €3,000 for the FP5. To be honest, I think Slane might be your best bet.

Yea i was thinkin that it seems like a great price considering it wont take much to convert it to full dura ace

I also work in London a few days a month so that could also be an option

Thats one hell of a good looking bike! Enjoy it mate!

There's something about the wibbly-wobbly Pinarello frames that looks odd to me

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,269 Mod ✭✭✭✭Chips Lovell

    I think they're sex on a stick.

Orcas are nice too and I'd even consider getting one. My father in law has a lovely black and white one. But they're not a patch on the Pinarello in the looks department.

ya i came across the Pinarello and i think its the wobbly fork and stays that got me class looking bike

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,860 ✭✭✭TinyExplosions

Not a fan of the wibbly wobbly fork myself, and it's just wrong to have Shimano on the bike -Campy all the way please :)

-That said, cracking deal and worth putting up with the Japanese rubbish :D

Am waiting to get the same bike. Slane prob have the best price but may be worth checking out Sigma cycles online as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,990 ✭✭✭cantalach

Douglas Cycles have a number of Pinarello in stock at the moment. The owner is an ex-racer who seems to know his stuff (in an anorak sort of way that appeals to bike nerds like me). He mightn't be as cheap as the online retailers but he looks after his customers. He's running a promotion at the moment whereby you buy a summer bike and get a winter bike for half price. In theory, both bikes are supposed to be for the same person but he told me that he's turning a blind eye when the two bikes are ordered in different frame sizes! So if you could find somebody else looking to buy it could work out cheaply. In addition to Pinarello he also does Cervelo, Cinelli, Colnago, Time and a few more besides. He does sell complete bikes but he's also more than happy to start from a frame and build it up with whatever components you want! Give him a shout on 021-4364340.

I bought my scott from Slane. The owenr, Pauls an ex-racer as well. I drove up there twice. Once to get fitted to get the correct size and then again to get the bike. My first trip was just recon so I am sure if you said you want an fp5 and aren't sure which size they'll set up both for you to try out.

They also set up the bike for me seat position pedals etc. I really like those guys up there. They were generous and helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another bike from them.

I think for us guy in Ireland its good to have the peice of mind that no matter what happens with the bike they are only a phone call or a drive away.

    Thats my 2c ----

FP5 is a great bike by the way and if you fall off you can at least say that the forks surfed the wrong wave and no one will doubt you.

I wouldn't recommend a pinarello to anyone having had one for a couple of years. My frame cracked and the warrenty was useless. They look well but are way over priced. I know a number of lads that had pinarellos and would not go near them anymore.

Contact Al in www.racycles.com - Family have bought lots of high end bikes from them and never an issue. He will mark the shipment favourably for customs purposes and will have it shipping in days - don't see the FP5 on the site but worth calling.

ok ive decided on 2 bikes not sure which to get tho so looking for opinions its either the Pinarello prince with full dura-ace (self build) or ive been offered a great deal on the 2008 Ridley Noah with mostly campy record except for the crankset which is a carbon FSA

Either way you're going to get a beast of a bike. If you're building the prince yourself, one thing to look out for is that apparently the sizing is a bit bigger than most other bikes.

    Nasty!

I would agree, its like saying "I'm torn between the Carrera GT and the F430", both are pretty amazing and either way you will have an amazing bike so its more down to which you prefer the look of. I'm not partial to some of the pinarello styling. Any chance you can get them to put record cranks on the noah, just to have a complete group (do I lose points for not saying gruppo?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,278 ✭✭✭peterk19

I am leaning more toward the Noah mainly because of the groupset i doubt they would put the campy crankset on it maybe witha few more €€€ they might im just waiting on the credit union to get back back to me so i can buy it :)

From a Pinarello to a Ridley Noah with Campag. That is a great leap :). Well done -- I'm sure you'll have a great time riding it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,278 ✭✭✭peterk19

I know but it was mainly down to price on the Ridley got it for €3300which it thought was a bargain considering the wheels and the groupset are worth at least about €2k i just couldnt pass it up

oh were u looking for a 54cm steel frame? ive a Cinelli fram if you are interester not as nice as a colnago but has nice lugs and a lovely set of olmo forks

Beautiful bike Peter, much nicer than the pinarello :)

Funnily enough they give you their bog standard 4ZA saddle. Let me know how you find it, mine was cripplingly painful so I ditched it. I think Cadex swapped the one on his as well.

That is about the only similarity between our two bikes though.

    Really does look amazing!

Despite all the slack they sometimes take, I reckon they're prob the best shop in dublin for high end bikes.

What groupset did you get with it, full Campag???

Also for what its worth, I go to Humphries in Finglas, all the top end stuff if needed as well as Campag plus Shimano.

He has at least 2 Pinnareallo frames in stock, the Prince is one of them. Seen a new BMC frame, sweet looking in there the other day also.

yea i usually go to Humpheries for my servicing i seen the Pinnarello frames he had just a bit too expensive compared to this but they do offer a great service and really know their stuff
