Hello, apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything specific when I searched. Boyf and I plan to have our post-ceremony shindig at his folks' place and hire in a caterer for a buffet-style dinner. Nothing stuffy or formal, a nice relaxed affair for 40-50 guests. Has anyone else done something similar? Can anyone recommend caterers that they've had a good experience with? And what sort of price would such a thing cost, roughly?

    Thanks everyone :)

Went to a wedding like this in England so can't give prices, but as a guest I thought it was a great idea, got to talk to tons of relatives I rarely see, sat down with different people for nearly every snack or drink I picked up, much better for mingling. Plus I'm a vegetarian, know a few people there are what I'll lightly term 'fussy eaters' and they stuffed themselves on what they like, not what was served to them.

Thanks - sounds like what we want! There'll be at least three vegetarians at ours, along with a nut allergy sufferer and someone with a severe stomach condition, so we need to provide lots of easy-to-eat choices! I like the idea of people being able to mingle and eat as much as they want and not have to be forced to sit with someone that perhaps they don't know/like. I've tried to find someone online who might offer a catering/buffet service like this but with no luck so far. I may end up buying everything in the party food section of M&S instead ;)

Hi tattykitty, we got married in a castle and as the castle is not run as a hotel we had to hire caterers. They normally use a company called 'With Taste' , and I have to say the food was out of this world. We had finger food as the guests arrived, a main dinner, and then more finger food later in the night. I think they mainly specialise in corporate functions but it might be worth giving them a call. The food was really top notch and the presentation was fab. I am a vegetarian and we had plenty of fussy eaters at our wedding and nothing was a problem for them. Not sure what you are looking at cost wise for 40-50 people. We had 95 at ours but they are well worth it! Hope that's helpful:D

Thanks - I've just mailed them so we'll see what they come back with :)
