Don't think so, I have looked for this before and couldn't find it anywhere in the settings, pity really as it is a handy function for covering your arse!

Hi just wondering if anyone is experiencing gmail problems. My account is taking ages to open and I have to switch to basic view in order to view it and then switch to standard. Would this be a gmail prob or a pc prob. It's been like this since Fri and not improving. If it is a pc prob where do I start. Teh only changes I have made is to download a free anti virus prog.

    This is probably the cause.
What was the name of the program?
How did you get it? Through a mail?
    Is the PC slow generally?
I don't want to scare you but sometimes programs saying they are AVs actually do something else, unless it's from a trusted source.

    Hi,
I am using free AVG. Used it before with no problems and my OH uses it all the time. should I uninstall it?

    No, AVG is fine.
Thought you might have gotten one of those mails with "Free AV" which turns out to be something else completely.

You can try to stop the AVG processes and then access gmail again.

Ctrl-Alt-Del and choose Task Manager and stop (End task) any process that starts with avg. To start AVG again, just reboot PC.
    Hope this makes sense.

The Linkscanner component of AVG may also be slowing down your browsing and hence your gmail access.

There's a useful post here about how you can install AVG without the Linkscanner component which may speed things up.

You're not running any other antivirus software by any chance?

Only time that has happened to me was when gmail didn't work in Opera for awhile.
