Any forthcoming Heads-up Tournaments?

Anyone know if there is any Live Heads-Up Tournament in the pipeline for this year? I realise the main problem with these tournies is the cost of so many dealers but maybe self-deal for the first round or 2 would alleviate this problem. There is definitely interest out there for 1 of these.

    Hi John,

I was planning on running one of these before Christmas but I didn't get enough interest.

I've ran 3 heads-up tournaments in the past with €10,000 guaranteed and had big overlays each time I ran them. That said they were a 128 head-up comp, I've been thinking about running a 32 man heads-up a one of my festivals this year but again its not cost effective, it nearly needs to be €210 + €40 reg before it breaks even, and even than the 1st round won't have a great structure.

If as a result of this thread there is alot more interest I will look in to it.

    Hi JP,

Ya see what you mean about the whole logsitics of it - 1 game could take 5 mins and another could take 2 hrs which would mean a lot of hanging around. If €40 reg is breakeven, you would want at least €50 reg pp so that means a buyin of €250-€500 + €50 reg. There should be 32 degenerates out there that would play though.

Unfortunetly this is the one area where degeneray wont get you through 4 matches and make the final. Not too many recreational players or gamblers will pay that sort of money as the majority of players willing to pay €200 will be fairly competent in their game. I cant see ~32 players going for this.

JP will always listen to ideas and will run any game there's interest in, but we cant expect him to run it at a loss. The idea of a self-deal HU doesnt interest me (the reason i havent played previous events). Could be an idea to run live/online heats of 8-man knockouts alongside other games and get down to a final 8 or so 2/3 months down the line, with everyone coming back for the live finals guaranteed money.

You could also have the option of paying for a dealer yourself. I'd be happy enough to throw a fiver along with my opponent to have a dealer, meaning i can sit back, relax and have a drink rather than wash, rifle and shuffle...then fold every 2nd hand.

Why not, now bear with me here, forget about EV and hourly rate and all that blah, for once, and just concentrate on finding the Irish Heads Up Champion.

I propose an entry fee of €150 = €100 to the prize pool and €50 reg, run by JP over the course of a weekend.

    For fun like, not money.

You can shoot me down now :pac::pac::pac:

If there's interest in this I can certainly organise it. I think Tony might have come up a good idea of playing a mix of a Sng and heads up.

Possibly 8 tables of 10 with play stoping when there's 2/4 players left on each table and then run a 16/32 man heads up comp. It certainly would cut down on the cost/reg fee.
