Hi all,

My Inspiron 5160 (about 4 years old) suddenly stopped working, when I power it on it starts up for about 5 seconds, reaching the BIOS screen and then it just powers down. The power cable is fine and the battery is charged, and it also happens with a different battery or no battery in place and just power chord. Is it fooked? I'd like to retrieve stuff off it, and maybe this is my excuse to buy myself a shiny new mac book pro!

are you sure battery is fully charged? had a similar problem with my inspiron 1300 turned out to be a loose dc power jack which is common problem with dells
