iPod Touch Wifi Connection Problem

    Hi Folks,

I'm having a problem with my ipod and was hoping someone could help me. Basically myself and the brother live together and we both have ipod touches. When he comes home and turns on the wifi he immediately connects to our wifi and he can start browsing on it start away. When I turn my on if finds our network and the little tick comes up beside it to show that it has connected to the network. The problem is though that it doesn't! The little aerial never comes up in the top left hand corner and I can't use the browser or other internet based applications. When I click on the network and go into it no IP address comes up. Eventually after turning the wifi on and off after about 20 times and saying a little prayer it comes on but this can be 20mins later. It's just so annoying and it never pickes up any wifi in town. I have tried renewing the lease, forgetting the network and putting it back in, turning my ipod on and off etc.. but the problem still exist. The wifi was one of the main reason I bought the ipod touch and I am now so annoyed that it is so bad. I'm half thinking of sending it back to apple to get it fixed. Has anyone had any similar problems or knows whats wrong. Thanks

    MM

Mine works fine. There are a couple of free apps in the Apps Store of itunes that will find wifi for you. If they can't pick up your wifi then there's a problem.

Maybe schange your wep/wpa password and try accessing it again

What software version are you using? They fixed a bug very similar to your situation in the last update 2.2

Found it version 2.1.1. Sounds like this could be the problem. Thanks everyone and especially Ian for your help!
