    Hi,
I'm replacing the hood on my bmw e30 convertible, and have been getting quotes like €1300. I can get the hood into the country for about £340. What I need is someone to install it properly, I am told DIY is out. I've heard of someone near bray. does anyone have anymore info for me.

    Thanks, Gar

I'm fairly sure i've seen Ed China or the likes attempt at doing one of these roofs D.I.Y and it looked an awful job.

Best of luck with the search.

Is the roof leaking or is it just worn etc?

cheers merc mad, will look them up.

The roof was worn and faded when I got it. Then when I cleaned it with hood cleaner, it ripped at the rear window.

I used a guy near Bray to fit a hood I supplied to a pagoda for me, his name is Gerry Kileen, Ph 01 2860094. He likes to talk, but he did a very good job - charged about €400. I found it hard to find anyone prepared to fit a hood they didn't supply.

A Pagoda is quite a simple one to do to be honest. I've done a few and there are only one or two key areas to get right, not sure about an E30 but its probably padded. You should phone around and then go face to face for a chat to see if the guy impresses you, but a recommendation from someone, as above, is the best way to find the guy you are looking for.

    Good luck.
