Any bit of info on the course or the DIT Kevin street would be great.
Also do most 1st years stay in Digs or rent places like the off-campus appartments/rooms? Don't know Dublin at all so totally clueless! Thanks

Since nobody else posted here I thought I would. :) I'm not doing optometry but my course has a couple of modules in common with them... I wouldn't know enough about them however to be able to tell you about it.
If you wanted to see the module names that they do in first and second year then... https://selfservice.dit.ie/modules/web_sos.sos_search ...you can look at them there. Academic year - 200708 (A bit out of date), programme - DT224, Stage 1/2.
If ya wanted to have a look at the timetables the people doing it now have... http://webtimetables.dit.ie/TTSuiteRBLIVE/... Username - Student Science, Password - Science > Login > Timetable. Select timetable group - Class Group, Programme name - B.Sc in Optometry > Search.

Other than that.. Kevin Street is a complete kip. :pac:

    Hi
I've just finished the optometry course in DIT and am now in the real world working full time
I know the course has changed slightly and they have made it more relevant. It is a tough course with a lot of hours of college and labs but it has been cut back in with the new course. A good understanding and a liking of science is needed. You do work experience after 3rd year and you do clinics through out 3rd and 4th year. They have built a new clinic for the optometry department that has all the latest equipment and they are running specialist clinics that give you good experience. If you are really interested get onto Veronica O Dwyer and organise a chat or even a visit to the college. I know when I was there about 4 or 5 leaving cert students spent a couple of days sitting in on different lectures and seeing the clinics.
On the accommodation side most of the first years stay in Griffith College campus about 20mins walk from the college. It's expensive but good for first year as you are with lots of other students and you can ask to be put in an apartment with other DIT students.
    Hope this helps

just a warning bout griffith accom, I is in griffith this year, the college not campus, and the college are very strict on residents, 500euro fine circa for being caught with non res folk in your apartment at night etc

Hi thanks a mil for all the information, really helps as know next to nothing.
Will have to go and see the campus and talk to Veronica O Dwyer ,that's good to know as would be nice to be a bit more familiar with what it's about.
Hopefully can afford to stay in the DIT accommodation, seems like Dublin is expensive all over .
Now just need to get the points!!
    Thanks again.
