Looking for good recommendations on a place to stay in West Cork.

    - Need to rent a decent house with at least three bedrooms. Something with mod-cons, very comfortable, warm, bright and relatively new.
    - Walkable to local town
    - Town needs to have good amenities (good supermarket, pubs, stuff for younger kids, restaurants)
    - Ideally on the coast, good beach would be great.
    - 6 to 7 night stay

Castletownbere sounds like a nice place but would love some good suggestions.

Anyone any good ideas. Easy walking to the town is a big deal for me. We rented a lovely house in Kerry last year that was advertised with an easy and quick walk into local town which would have been easy if you considered three miles each way on roads with no footpaths easy!

    Thank you

Stayed in Glengariff last September - lovely place - not exactly hopping with entertainment but to be honest that's why I liked it.

We stayed in West Coast Holiday homes - very nice but storage heaters which are not evryone's bag.

Is 5/10 minutes from house at one end of town to other end of town but house is up a steep hill - pretty sure Dream Ireland do holiday homes on the other end of town which avoides the hill.

No beach - it's a harbour and we did our shopping in Bandon (not too far a drive) but it's a lovely place and a great base for Cork and Kerry trips.

A great beach holiday in West Cork is Barleycove on the Mizen peninsula - one of the nicest parts of Ireland with a smashing natural beach - you are in the middle of nowhere though so are reliant on the shop on site or a short trip to Crookhaven.

Check out Clonakilty. Always a great buzz around the place. Plenty of nice places to eat. Close to beaches (Inchydoney) and a good location for exploring West Cork.

Also, I like Baltimore. Not a whole lot in the place itself, no beach, but plenty of activities close by.

Lots of people seem to love Schull. Doesn't float my boat but it would tick the boxes for a lot of your requirements.

Rosscarbery is a great spot with one of the best beaches in Cork nearby.

Schull is good but the beach is a good drive away.
