    Hi There,
I have a Panasonic SA HT530 hooked up to it's subwoofer/speakers (Panasonic sb wa530). I have two (prob dumb questions)

    1. If I upgrade my DVD player can I hook up the subwoofer/speakers to a new (Hd) DVD player? i.e user the existing surround sound with a new DVD player

I am not sure what the type of output from the subwoofer to the DVD unit is called - in the manual it is called a catch up - flatish connector with 24 pins or so - you need to press it to release it (being googling it to no avail :o)

    2. Is there any way of connecting this to an Xbox 360 - I have connected it to the TV(Toshiba 37wl66)/Skybox but can't seem to route it to the xbox via TV ?

    Any help/advice appreciated!

You could connect another player to the Panasonic base unit - there should be Red and White connectors on the back of the unit labelled "AUX" - however, this should give you Dolby Pro Logic surround sound. You can't hook the subwoofer/speakers on their own to a different dvd/other player. For the system to work, it needs to

    1) play a dvd,
    2) decode the sound stream from the disc,
3)amplify the resulting sound track and
4)send it out over the speakers

On your Panasonic, steps 1, and 2 are carried out in the system unit and the
sound stream is sent to the subwoofer unit through the cable you've referred to "catch-up". The subwoofer unit in your system is amplifying all the sound channels, which is why the individual speakers are also connected to it. There's no way to connect a regular dvd player to the subwoofer/speaker setup alone.

See initial answer to question 1 - connect the red and white audio connectors from XBox to AUX connectors on back of Panasonic system unit.
