    Hi,

I'm doing the PGDE at the moment and Geography is one of my subjects. I have a Senior Cycle class and we're covering the Regional Geography section. I'm just wondering if anyone has any good ideas on how to make it more interesting or ideas for resources?

    Any feedback much appreciated.
    Thanks

Hello, i'm not a geography teacher but have been accepted in a PGDE next year. I studied geography in TCD and will only have it as my sole subject to teach. Just wondering were you in the same situation and if so what other subject did u choose to pick as your second one? also were did u do your hdip and how are you finding it?

    Thanks

Powerpoints with loads of photos, google earth, film clips from your region e.g. I do SW USA as Subcontinental region and I show the motorbike chase from Terminator 2 to show them the empty storm drain system in LA (leads on to water shortages issues, population pressures, climate etc). I show them The Killers "Human" video where the band is playing around in the desert, and then we talk about the landscape, rock types, weathering, climate etc. I show them some cheesy Cowboy film clips when doing the Gold Rush, clip of Robbie Knievel jumping the Grand Canyon to introduce Tourism in the area. Visual media make the Regional section come alive.

If its a class big into sport you could use the countries in Euro 2012 to pique their interest into the ideas of political/administrative regions etc. Get a big poster of the countries in the tournament
