    Hi,

I bought a samsung series 4 50" from power city on stephens day. I'm very happy with the picture except that the blacks are too black.

The question I have is that the box and the sticker on the TV when I bought it say 100hz and 1080 24. When I connected a blue ray player the info box on the tv said it was displaying in 720 at 100hz, the same graphics card supports the higher resolution but the picture is less clear when displayed at 1080.

When I connect my PC with geforce7 graphics card via hdmi it said the native resolution was 720 at 60hz.

the model number on the tv is:PS50A451P1XXU

    does (1080 24) mean anything else ?

    thanks..

    Its only a 720p TV:

If the blacks are too black then I'd say your contrast and coulour settings are wrong.

1080 24 really only matters with blu ray players. its a 1080p (resolution) signal at 24 frames per second. that tv isnt full hd, but it is compatible with those 1080p24 signals from blu ray players

    thanks

i have been playing with the contrast settings and nothing seems to fix it.

the compatable with 1080 24 makes sense. Kind of sneaky labeling.

Any reason why the native resolution comes up at 60hz ?

Thats the refresh rate. I think thats pretty standard for a PC signal. Play around with the colours a bit as well.

Sorry to bump, but does this mean my TV (Samsung 50" Plasma) Model Number PS50A451P1XXU is not actually 1080i?
There's a "black" function in "Detailed Settings" in the "Picture" settings. Maybe that's on.

    Otherwise maybe decrease the contrast.
