Heat Pump & Upstairs rads - how to boost the heat!

    Hi Folks,

I won't start with a huge tech ramble, suffice to say I have a Gepthermal Heat Pump which supplies great Hot Water and underfloor heating downstairs (except in the room with Semi-Solid flooring - bad thermal transfer?). But the heat from the upstairs rads is terribly weak. I know we probably got it wrong at the start..... however, can anyone offer advice on how to improve the temp of the rads upstairs?

    Cheers,

    John

We have oversized double rads - quite warm to touch - heats bedrooms fine.

Obviously they take more water to heat so not as ecomonical as underfloor.

Run them about 2 hours before bedtime to heat up rooms.

Replace some or all of the upstairs rads with fan coils (fan convectors) these can transfer heat from lower temperature sources such as heat pumps much more efficently than rads. Any good plumbers merchants will be able to help you out.

Some info here if you haven't googled it already!

Looks interesting, would be nice to hear feedback from someone who has them installed.
