I getting JSA and have been told that I need to go down to the social welfare office every month to sign on.

Do I need to being anything with me? Are they checking to make sure I am looking for work (in which case i'll bring in emails of replies to applications etc) or is this just simply to make sure I am still in the country?

    Cheers

Its just to get you to sign to state your still unemployed and looking for work, its usually just get you in and out as quick as possible because its so busy, but there is the odd spot check. If they want proof of were you looking for work you'll be asked in advance.

Just bring your social services card or ID if you dont have one.

Bring a pen if you are signing. Sometimes the scobies have lifted them all.

Seriously......you wont need documentation until you are actually being interviewed or called up at some later stage, and that will NOT be during one of your monthly call ups.

if you occasionaly showed evidence of looking for work you might be less likely to be called in for interview and asked to prove you are seeking work. one email/letter a month is better than being asked for several at once after they have stopped your payment.
