Can this be done at home? The warranty is out long ago anyhow, and judging from the price of getting it repaired and replaced, and postage both ways its looking at Eur 69.00 which I think is way too much. Yet a touch screen is only Eur19.00 to buy on its own.........
    Any suggestions please
(I actually have two broken DS Lites)
A game wont be accepted since the console got dropped, yet will play other games, and the unaccepted game will play in her brothers console??

I cant afford to get both fixed let alone one at Eur69.00!!:(

It could be done, you might want to be happy opening stuff like that. I expect there would be videos on youtube.

There is a generic one here for only $3 incl delivery!

This is for DS lite, like you said yours are. You can read peoples comments on ease of install (not easy)

You might need special screwdrivers to open it, they have some here, not sure you need them though.

€69 is crazy. You could sell it as broken and use the money to buy a working second hand one. I expect broken ones go for OK money, since most will repair them easily, once you do one of these things doing others is easy.

My flat-mate ordered the part from Nintendo and replaced the screen himself. He'd never done it before and it was really easy.

Probably the LCD screen, as the touch screen is more difficult according to youtube video that I saw!

Console repairs ireland, quote 45 and 55 for touch screen and cartridge replacement respectatively, excluding postage. Was looking at a second hand one today, but it was in poor shape for €100:(

Im considering getting a new one alltogether for myself, and letting the kids swap if their own wont work on a particular game............

Yes theyre DS Lites. I would need the tri wing screwdriver. I've seen some instructions from youtube......scary especially considering the cartridge slot doesn't just come out as its soldered in four places....
The Touch Screen is apparently connected to the ribbon (computer type), so would be scary to even go near it for fear of corruption.

    jesus, its hard work:D

Hey I also fix DSs. If you want to send me a Pm of exactly whats wrong with them I'll give you a price.

I know one of yours needs a touch screen replaced, that would be E30 + postage

EDIT: BTW the cartridge slot is held in with 4 solder points, but it is still connected with another 12 or so. If you do do it your self be very careful when deslodering them as you can lift up one of the solder pads easily enough, and thats never good
