2008 Cervelo P2 SL - Advice needed please!

Mate of a mate is selling his cervelo.

I’m still new to the biking scene, & getting to learn all about the components/brands……..hence the reason I’m turning to those of you in the know! The bike build up, from what I know is fairly little, is –

    Shimano 105 10-Speed
    Profile T2+ & wing bar
    2007 Fulcrum Racing 5 wheels
Bike has done about 2000 miles – well looked after and is always cleaned

The mate of a mate is looking for €1k on the button – is this a reasonable price for the bike?

What other questions should I ask about the bike before (or if) I part with my hard-earned cash!

Cheers in advance for any help offered!

    Additional info just received –

Bike was bought in March 2008 & used until the end of the racing season (say September 2008).

Reason for sale – lack of room & seller has decided not to race this year due to a new family addition.

Front tyre needs to be replaced – worn Continental Force.

Rear tyre is a nearly new Continental Grand Prix.

    Shifters are dura ace.

Brake levers are Cane Creek Alloy.

Everything else on the bike is 105.

I’ve also uploaded photos of the bike – can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/28215040@N03/sets/72157612251467086/

    Not a bad deal.

FYI: you can get a new one with Ultegra (one up from 105) for $1399: http://www.artscyclery.com/descpage-A02190.html

    Cheers for the reply Raam!

Checked out Art's Cycle there now - the frame i'm after 56 is sold out, what a kicker!

Cervelos are nice. I have one (P2C)

Remember if the bike doesn't fit you (and I don't mean standover height) its not good for you. If you cannot get and stay in an aero position (and that doesn't mean just on the bars) then its no good for you.

Hey Tunney - cheers for the advice!

Guy I'm buying the bike from was measured for it & on talking to him we are about similar height & build! But I hear what you are saying regarding fit - might be worth my while to pop into one of the bike shops for a fit on one of them!

Might be a silly question, but do you really want/need a time trial bike? Cool bike though.

Funny stuff - there is no NEED for one, but I want one!

As during the summer months i moonlight with a spot of triathlon racing!

ok. Just when you said that you were new to the biking scene, I had visions of heading out for a spin in the Phoenix park in the aero position ;)

To be honest this is a far better justification anyway - more satisfaction.

Also, if you really don't need it .. buy it and strip the frame and give it to Raam he's desperate for a new frame.

diarmuid - i seen something similar last year in the park! A guy pretty much learning to ride on a felt tt! Must admit i did keep my eye on the buy&sell for a couple of months after for the same bike to appear at a knocked down price!

el tonto - funny man! But am hoping to get a couple of sprint time-trials under the belt as well!

Have been sniffing about the boards site a while now & have encountered a number of boards.ie jerseys up in the dublin foothills! Is there any rite of passage to join in on your boards.ie peleton?

Afraid this saturday is already struck off the card - as I was helping myself to second helps of christmas pud, I signed up for a 55k hike! Details - http://www.artoneillchallenge.com/

But will be on for the following saturday - will keep an eye on the posts for meeting location & time!

Just off the phone to the guy selling the bike, bargained him down to €900 - is this a good price for the bike or am i a mug?

I'm guessing that quite alot of triathletes would given the "proper racers" a good spanking in a road race - nevermind a TT.

Sexual practices aside, I don't think they'd win the race :D
