    Hi folks,
    Does anyone knows how i can open a business account in the UK for my newly formed company? My company is registered in ireland, i often need to pay my suppliers in GB pounds as the company is located in UK. I therfore wants to encourage my cliants to pay in GBP to my UK company's account, if am able to open one, i can easily forward payment to my supplier and instruct my supplier to forward goods to my customers. my cutomers are in South Africa.

    A few years ago, a company I worked in set up a "GBP Hold Account" with one of the Irish Banks ( Ulster Bank Ltd) This enabled us to both receive and payout GBP, without having to incur foreign exchange charges. We also had a cheque book on the account.
    The main requirement, by the bank, for them to allow us to have one, was that we had to be in receipt of GBP payments from our customers.
    As this was a few years ago > 6 years, your would need to double check the requirements. We found it great, because we could hold the GBP@ in the account and not have to convert it to EURO when the customer paid.

    I would open an account with HSBC. You can have accounts in any number of countries and view all the accouts online. It't pretty great! I just left my former bank as # 1 banker in the NW to join them!
