Editing a facemask.

I've thought about this for a while now but never got around to doing it.
This Thread finally got me to post this idea. So here we go.

My idea is simple, you can't use metal sights on most airsoft guns when using a full face mask because you can't get down far enough to look along them, so modify a mask so it will allow you to get down far enough.

I was thinking of cutting the cheek area of the mask out (along red line in pic)and replacing it with a heavy/denim-like cloth (old camo/OD combats ideally).

Between lack of money and college I have none of the resources I need to try this out, if anyone has an old mask and is bored for an hour give it a go and get back to me.

the mask you have in this picture should be fine for aiming!!!

i bought 3 different full face masks and i only ever use this one because its the only one i can aim with, with red dots, iron sights, and snipers!

Never had a problem aiming with a sensei(above). It fits your face so it actually only adds like 3mm. Replacing that with cloth wont really benefit you in any way. If you have a different full face, then just buy a sensei, they arent dear :)

I had no problem aiming with the sensei mask either, but I did see a guy last time up north that had the cheek cut out on both sides. So only the nose/mouth piece remained.
I use glasses now due to clearer sight, especially dusk or bad weather.

iv found problems with that type of mask, especially where the sights or scope are low enough on the gun, like a flat top M4 or A1

denim would be a good idea alright, youd need to pop-rivit it on or you could be lookin at a very sore cheek halfways through a game.

I use a paintball mask and I suffered from that exact issue. As anyone who might remember me from when I did play, will know I just cut out roughly the same shape, bored some holes around the area that was removed and stitched in some cloth material in the same green colour as the mask. I can shoulder the weapon and aim now with no issue and the cloth takes the sting out of any direct shots to that area.

I have none of the mask, but I'll take one after work tonight.

Just pull off the whole bottom section. Use a shemagh (with a protective insert) to protect your face if you're worried.

Personally I would look at alternative mesh masks, you can get them cheap on ebay. I had one of those same masks and think it is one of the worst designed products around.

This the job I did on the paintball mask that I had. The material looks better in real light than in the pic but you get the idea. Also yes I am a 'leftie'.
