Considering you live in Donamede I'd take any excuse to get outta there.

Seriously though. Go for it. All the money problems will still be here when ya get back. I'd rather regret something I done that something I didn't do!!

    Go to New York.

    Suck off a rock star.

    See the World Trade Center.

    Buy a I Heart NYC t-shirt.

Have the time of your life.

All the colours of the rainbow!

Is it not a requirement that you have a job sorted before you even leave Ireland?

I went there for 3 weeks a few years ago when I was just out of college, I loved it so much that I stayed for 18 months. Do it. Best city in the world.

What makes you say that? From my perspective I am getting far better value for money in the US as i would in Ireland, I have a job in the US and i wasn't able to find one in Ireland. Certain areas in the US are hurting hard but the OP is a student and there are plenty of jobs if your not picky. especially for a J1.
    Go for it, no regrets!

Stay here and be miserable and complain about it on an internet message board where we will all type in an angry fashion about how STDs are flying around like the flu
