Saw this on Sunday and enjoyed it thoroughly. Benico Del Toro is tremendous in the title role and Soderbergh handles the story really well. He also shot it (under the name Peter Andrews) and it looks extremely well with a nice contrast of styles between the two time periods of the film.

Recommended - looking forward to part two next month.

    Thoughts, opinions?

Want to see them back to back. So gonna wait until the 2 are out at the same time.

    Can't imagine that's gonna happen.
Part 2 isn't out until February.

Meant to say out together on DVD. I'll be out of the country till September from next week. Don't wanna wait that long to see the second part.

Jeez that'd be a hell of a watch, part one alone is close to 2 and half hours, was a brilliant film though and I'm looking forward to part two.

could you watched a more boring battle scene

I thought it was very good - it was shot as a documentary so between that and the subtitles I wouldn't think it was everyones cup of tea

Not sure about the comment about the battle being boring, this was not meant to be a war movie.

yeah but why spend so much time on describing this battle, for the second city in cuba.

it seemed seeing they had split the film in too , they just made this section really long, Im mean the point of it was that a lot of the batista troops gave up after a while,as he said, its ain't that hard to revolt a against a leader who people already hate him, i think they could have explained that without dragging it out so long.

did the un assembly look strangely empty, i guess this was much later when there wasn't so much hubbub over the revolution

even though this was sodeburg direction you can still see the slow malick-ness of it.
