I recently bought a new 46" Samsung LCD TV and when I connect my Dell Laptop to it with a HDMI cable there is a thick black border of about 4 inchs around the picture. It is still watchable but it is annoting that I cant watch it in the full 46 inchs. I can see everything on the TV that I can see on the laptop but it just wont go full screen on the TV. hope this makes sence. Any help is much appriciated. Cheers

Just looked into the specs for your dell, doesn't look like the intergrated graphics card is powerful enough to give a large enough resolution for the 46" screen.

Only thing I think might help you is if you go to the display option in your control panel and you should be able to set the resolution size for your second screen (tv) and if you can set it to 1920 x 1080 and you should fill the screen.

Now theoretically that should work but I honestly don't know if your graphics card will support it.

Sure try it out and let me know how you get on.

Sorry for only getting back to you now, iv been away. I tryed to change the resolution on my laptop but it only goes up to 1280 x 800 pixels, it doesnt give me the option of 1920 x 1080. I suppose the graphics card not being able to support it makes sense but Iv only ever connected my laptop to 3 different Plasma's. A 32", a 42" and a 46". The problem always happens on the 32 and 46 but on the 42 most of the time it will go full screen thats why I cant figure out if the problem is with the tv or the Laptop???
