How much RAM do you have on your computer? If AVG is slowing your computer down well I'd hate to see what Norton, etc... would do.

As long as you only have one Anti-Virus and one Firewall you can have as many anti-malware, spy-ware, etc... programs as you feel necessary afaik.

Personally my security set-up is Super Anti-Spyware, Malwarebytes, Spywareblaster and Spywareguard. Along with AVG and then I use Windows Firewall (which should be on your computer, go into "Control Panel" and it's in) which as a whole security system I'd recommend.

I was using AVG up until v.8, and it started slowing my PC down, so I switched to avast!, and it's great. I also use Windows Firewall, and find it more than adequate - unless you're into dodgy hacking sites or software or porn downloads, it should be fine.

Also, +1 for Malwarebytes for occasional spyware scans. I also have Windows Defender resident, and don't find it a resoruce hog as I've seen suggested elsewhere on the internet.

you will really need to upgrade to more ram "memory" if you want to use a good antivirus/firewall solution most of these programs use lots of memory. other than that you will always have a slow pc. its cheap enough these days to upgrade your ram and that will surely speed up your pc bigtime. just make sure to purchase the correct memory for your pc if you decide to. find out is it ddr or ddr2 good luck

Try Antivir, its light weight, fast scanner.

I'd also install Spybot with resident shield to block reg changes.
