Damn, that's a great price! I spent weeks looking up the best model and cheapest retailer (was more than double that price!) only for the person I gave it to as a present use it TWICE since he got it a year ago. Wouldn't mind but I'd love to have it meself :pac:

    It is what it's.

Gf bought me one Christmas before last, use it every day. Great little gadget, that's a brilliant price for it.

Is this in all HMVs by any chance? I would absolutely love one for that price.

It's a little odd they can sell them so cheap, or even sell them at all.

Yeh, the software is pre-loaded on the unit when you buy it and what you are buying is an unlock key to make it work. It was discussed here before that it has very strong encryption which makes it very difficult for people to hack, but perhaps they have?

Best to ask if they are authorised sellers before purchasing....

I have one of these about 8 months now, got it from the luzurntech ebay site. Also bought the docknig station which is a must have if you are getting this.

Have it in the sitting room in the dock and i connect it to the wireless and grab all the movies off my pc in the other room and watch them streamed across. its perfect, no jumping or nothing. Also with the docking station it allows you to record from your tv, it wil change channel etc if sky and do a timed recording, very useful if you dont have sky+. Dock is about €50 but definately worth it as i would rarely use it if i didnt have the dock.

Brought it away on holidays and the battery was not great to be honest, prob got about 1hr and a half with it, but i had charger for it. Also used it away to connect to the wifi of the hotel and was able to look for the sites etc.

Would highly recommend this, but get the dock.......

Just ended up buying an ipod Classic 120g on HMV site because of this post!

    Cost £170 + £2.50 postage so I hope that = about 188euro

Edit: Just read that mp3players are only available to purchase by UK customers. So I'm expecting to get an email canceling my order

This review has made my mind up for me. Quite a savage piece of kit. It'll replace my mp3 player and my nokia 770 by the looks of things. Certainly good for a hundred quid and change.

I'll wait til they're back in stock on HMV though, just to make sure I don't change my mind in the mean time.

The crowd i bought it from Luzerntech currently have the 605 wifi on buy it now for €136 euro and have the dock for €50 delivered.
Note these products are refurbished but I was lucky as the cinema codec pack was already on the archos when i got it from them which is usually an extra 20 dollars or more. Have not had a problem with it yet.

Good value... but I, for one, will never buy an Archos again.

My AV440 was just over a year old... not used very often and the HDD failed. Support wouldn't listen to me outside of the 1 year warranty.

Anyone know if this is available in the Grafton street HMV. Might pick one up on the way home.

Got the 4gb one from luzerntech a few months ago for about 80 or 90euro was auction though, works grand and with 16gb cards costing just over 20euro its easy to manage movies. Also got the dock at christmas. Sucks how all the extras cost more. Makes the ipod touch look like good value... but the screen is better on the archos and the native avi playback is handy

I always get at least 3 hours per charge on the 4GB model, using ot daily for over a year.

Only problem I had was in the early days when it once crashed and spontaneously cleared the internal drive. The internal memory is also quite slow to write to. Obviously, this is only an issue on the 4GB version.
But I just never bother with it now, have a few 4GB SD cards, stick em in a card reader and load them up, and swap them in and out as needed.

I'm glad the extras cost more, makes the base unit cheaper. Only thing I've bought is the browser - I wouldn't use the dock or anything else anyway, so glad they weren't included in the price.
