Whats the best way to get the springer use to sound of a shotgun? I dont want to make him gun shy. He is 7months and has had a starter pistol shot over him. Thanks for any advice.

have you used a dummy launcher over the dog,try but keep the dog on the lead or if you can get someone to hold the dog try it from 30yards away then the next day go twenty yards then ten yards then if the dog doesnt scare try it beside the dog then eventually try it with the dog off the lead.

if you dont have a launcher get a friend with a gun on one side of a field and you on the other with the dog on the lead. get the gun man to fire the oppsite direction into the wind if possible, then check the dogs reaction and if its ok then move closer, and keep moving closer to the gun,but try not to rush into firing over the dogs head.

remember you had to learn to walk before you could run,
