Guys, with the amazing value on offer to play druids before the 1st of May would there be any interest in getting 16 or more people together to play druids glen?

The deal atm is €90 for the round including a steak dinner, desert & tea/coffee.

Its available on a Saturday or Sunday as well (I suggest a Saturday simply because most club competitions are on a Sunday).

What you guys think? Would we be able to get 16 people together to go on the same date?

    Regards
    Ian

I'd be interested if it was a Saturday. Would be especially good in April or May when it's (hopefully) a little warmer and the course will be in better condition.

as far as I know they are also doing a deal €200 for a 4 ball golf only

    count

Right, I'm heading to bed for the evening, The last available date for this is Friday the 1st of May, so that makes the final Saturday the 25th April. So how about we provisionally work to this date. If people are interested in going before this date I have no problem, but the "in theory" should give us the best weather and course conditions?

    Provisional Date: 25th April

Only on a Tuesday, its a competition.

I'd be up for that, I'd imagine a lot of us on here would be too.

Are we keeping it for boardsies only or can we invite a friend or two?
I'm assuming 16 is the minimum for these prices, is there a maximum number?

Friends to me would be fine, although do people want to have their own fourball or would they prefer to mix it up with other boardsie's? I'll leave this open for everyones thoughts

I dont think there's a maximum number, there would easily be enough time slots for 160 players which I cannot see us getting! Sunrise on the 25th is due at 6.06 and sunset is at 20.39 loads of time to play golf!

I would be keen to go in early April if anyone else is. My wife is due on the 22nd so golf may not be an option on the 25th.

Cost: €100 (€90 for course and food, €10 for prizes, divided into 2 category's high and low handicappers?)
    First Tee Time: 11.00am

    What do people think?

That suits me as things currently stand.

What is the format? Fourball or Individual stableford ... or both?

Bad news I'm afraid. I rang up Druids Glen and there's No chance of the 25th of April or the 18th of April, Nor of the 21st or 28th of march. Only real choice would be a Sunday or a weekday booking. Sorry for getting people's hopes up!

What do people think of a Sunday? I know most clubs have their competitions on a Sunday but sure let me know and I'll see what I can do!

Weekdays would kind of rule me out. Sunday's i'd most likely be playing a competition somewhere too.

I noticed on the GUI site that Carton House and K Club are both offering deals for €70-75 per player during the winter.

    I'm not going to play...

...just going to walk around the course shouting "oi! those irons are too bladey for you ye muppeh!!! you should be using TaylorMade Tour Burners!!!"

    and

"scuse me, do you know that you're in breach of rule 46 chapter III verse 1...? you need to revert to the previous fairway, drop within one club length of the bunker, play two balls, sprinkling sand on your face before hitting the second and eat the divot you took for lunch with a side of chips..."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,623 ✭✭✭milltown

Well I work shifts so there's every chance I could make a midweek game too. Maybe check availability and put up 3 dates here and see what the concensus is.

    Hi Lads,

I'm not sure if this did get off the ground?.... I did an outing last year and I think there were 8 or 10 boardsies there. Anyway, I'm organising a couple of outings at the moment for my society and you guys are welcome to attend:

June - K Club (Palmer Course) This will be a Sunday - probably the 28th
July - Heritage - this will be a saturday, probably the 25th

I'll confirm times over the next couple of days.

We'll probably play stableford singles. Still have to go looking for prizes at the mo, but there'll be something.

Let me know if you're interested.

    All the best,

    Graham

Enjoyed the Druids Heath day. Put me down as a maybe for the Heritage, depending on price.

I definitely can't make the June game but might be able to make the Heritage round. What sort of price range would it be?

Prices depend on numbers, but i would hope that I get the green fee for around

    K club around 85 / 90

    Heritage 65 / 70

would be cheaper if we go for no food, no prizes... but I'll keep you posted
