The 13 celebrities taking part in this year's Dancing On Ice have been confirmed.
Soap stars Roxanne Pallett and Gemma Bissix will be joined by pop singer Jessica Taylor, former Blue Peter host Zoe Salmon, Loose Women's Coleen Nolan and model Melinda Messenger.
The male contestants include former EastEnders actor Todd Carty and TV presenters Jeremy Edwards, Donal MacIntyre and Michael Underwood.
Completing the lineup are X Factor's Ray Quinn, former rugby player Ellery Hanley and ex-England footballer Graeme Le Saux.
Dancing On Ice returns ITV1 on Sunday, January 11 on ITV.

Was Michael Underwood already in a previous series of the show

Not sure about Underwood, his name doesn't sound familiar though.

I can't wait for this to start back, by far the best reality show, esp the crazy lifts.

Yes he was in last year's series. Did 2 weeks then broke his ankle and was DEVESTATED that he had to leave the show so they're giving him another chance this year.
Looking forward to Dancing on Ice although I don't know why any celeb would want to be ritually humiliated by evil Jason and fall over a lot on TV. Fair play to them though.

It's kinda nice that he's being giving another go, does he have the same partner?

I like DOI but I don't think it has the same oomph (can't think of a better word!) as Strictly, not sure why though...

I suppose Strictly has the different dances- the classic viennese waltz, the fiery tango, the sexy rumba etc.. whereas DOI is all quite similar. Different routines obviously but still the general skating and lifting look to it. It lacks the same emotion and passion of the dancing. There's never the same closeness and storytelling of the routines that you would see on the dancefloor.
On the other hand, there's always the excitement of someone being dropped and falling on their arse.

I've only heard of two of the people on that list. Does that say more about me or them?

That's what it is, it's the connection thing. As for your last comment, i never thought of it like that!

Anyone else watch the camp-fest last night? Some of it was fun, other parts painful, but thought it was crazy how much of a gap there was between Ray and the other male contestants. He came out skating like it was the final!

Yeah I watched it, Ray was BRILLIANT he'll have to be in the final by the looks of it. Poor Todd Carty was hilarious, and good to see Michael Underwood back. Can't wait to see how the girls fare next week. And the costumes, I just love them!

I totally disagree with the comments above re: dancing vs ice skating - ice skating has an added grace and smoothness that regular dancing doesn't have, it's an absolutely beautiful art form, and just watch the rest of the series to see how diverse the dancing can be from week to week and contestant to contestant :)

Best part for me was that footballer smashing his face off the ice in training.

    My how I laughed.

I agree with you there as I love watching skating, especially when it's competitive, but not sure if justice can be done to it via the celebrities to the same degree as dancing, but Ray WAS good. I wonder which of the girls will stand out.

    So long Graeme Le Saux

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/most-popular/2009/01/08/dancing-on-ice-jessica-taylor-under-fire-for-skating-experience-115875-21023914/
Dancing On Ice stars claim that Jessica Taylor has an unfair advantage after appearing on another skating show.
Liberty X singer Jessica spent four weeks training in 2004 for Strictly Ice Dancing, a Strictly Come Dancing spin-off.
She finished second out of five acts and gained valuable experience on the show. An insider on ITV’s Dancing On Ice said: “Jessica is playing down how good she is, but she has definitely got a head start on the rest. A few of the other contestants are not happy about it and think that it is unfair.”

yes i agree its kinda unfair

If you look DOI as an entertainment show I don't think it would be as good if all the celebrities were complete beginners, like Todd. For the show to have variety you probably need all levels of ability.

From a competitive point of view JT does have an advantage in that if she gets into the skate off she most likely be saved against weaker skaters.

Will have to wait to see how good she is...

Todd is hilarious - he is the John Seregent of this show :D

    Jeremy gone

People been watching this? Last Saturday's show was a bit dull imo but the week before- classic. Todd skidding off the ice into the tunnel was quality television. :D

Thought any fans of DOI might like this:
Robin Cousins- amazing.. especially his 'trademark move' at 2:18.
