Was thinking of buying one of these player/recorders but not really an expert in this field. Just looking for peoples opinions on it, good or bad. They have just come back into stock at 7dayshop and cant find much reviews on it as it was only released in December 08 I think. Priced at £159 might as well take advantage of the good exchange rate at the moment. Thanks in advance.

moved from portable media players. although the pvr is a media player it doesn't exactly fall into the category of portable :P

    best of luck.

Ended up buying one of these, only complaint is that the drive is a bit noisey but apart from that I am very pleased with it. :)

    Hi folks

I recently bought one of these mainly for recording stuff off my sky box. Unfortunately both my sky boxes (sky plus and Sky plus hd) dont seem to have a video out (S-video out) they only have the red and white audio connectors. Is there anyway around this or do I need to invest in something like this

    or

    Cheers

Edit: On looking at this again I'm not sure if the above is a correct explanation. Effectively I need the red (audio R) , white (audio L) and yellow (CVBS) cable to go from the pvr into the same outputs on the sky box. However the sky box only has a red and white (audio) output. The sky box does seem to have an S-video connector but it is a different type of socket to the others - as a result I cant connect to receive video out. Is there a solution to this?

    Cheers again

Ok I have thrown up a couple of pics to show my dilemma

here is the rear of the sky box

    1616wh.jpg

as you can see to the left of the two scarts there are the red and white audio out and the S-video socket

This is the rear of the so speaky box

and the two need to be connected with

Unfortunately that lead doesnt do the trick - is there such a thing that will connect the red white and yellow of the So Speaky box with the red white an S-video of the sky box?

    Cheers

buy a scart adapter. the scart will go into the sky box and the yellow red white into the pvr

I have a Kiss Technologies DP 588 that I am looking to update. Does the unit you got have an EPG and it is not quite clear but does it have a tuner.? I am looking at a Tvix R-3300 as well but the EPG is essential.

    Thanks

Im thinking of buying this mysef. But i need to know one thing before i do buy it. To those who have the Dane Elec 1TB, can you transfer recorded media from Dane Elec HDD to a PC, so that you can burn the media onto DVD? (Not streaming to watch) Or access media content on the Dane using a PC to record onto DVD? Thanks people :-).
