Does anyone know how I can control my desktop pc from my laptop using remote assistance? My desktop is XP professional and my laptop is Vista?

I found this link to explain http://www.microsoft.com/windowsXp/using/mobility/getstarted/Remoteintro.mspx but it doesn't seem to work and i wondered if that was because Vista and XP Professional are not compatible.

    Any ideas gratefully received!

Why remote assistance? Just use a plain remote desktop connection.

Both Windows XP and Vista use the RDP protocol, so it should work fine. Follow the tutorials :)

To use RDP (remote desktop / mstsc) you need to make sure that it is enabled on the box you want to connect to. Just right click "My Computer", click "Remote" tab and click "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer"

Word of warning you can only do this if you local user has a password (ways around this too if you need instructions).

I went the other way, from tight to real, tight does have more options, but I found it to be a lot slower to use.
