    Yes it will. I use my PS2 scart cable on my PS3 when I'm using the SD TV. In fact thats the exact same cable I use. Works really well. Looks like it doesn't have the Game - DVD switch so if you aren't using a slimline you'll only be able to watch DVDs in green

    That there is forward compatibility doesn't surprise me but I just wanted to be sure of backward compatibility ie PS3 things working on a PS2.

    It uses the same connector, all the PS consoles do. That cable will work on PS1, 2 and 3.
