Question of Millimeters & Centimeters

First commute of the new year and was back on the Lemond with Sora after 2 weeks purely on the Ultegra equipped Focus and a few difference became obvious very quickly ...

    1. The saddle on the Focus is about 5 - 10mm lower than the Lemond ... and I prefer the lower saddle height. Never really thought myself uncomfortable on the Lemond and would have never thought to adjust it any lower ... only that I felt a little less comfortable today morning

    2. Lemond is a 55cm frame vs 54cm for the Focus ... this has meant that I use a shorter stem on the Lemond ... I recon 90mm vs 110mm ... and those 2 cms make the bike a lot twitchier. Again .. never realise the lemond was twitchy before the Focus ... by the way anyone know the logic behind why a shorter stem makes the bike less stable

    3. The larger frame also means that the saddle is just that bit forward on the Lemond .. knee exactly on top of the pedal spindle .. on the Focus .. its about 1 cm behind the spindle ... and I find I get a lot more leverage going uphill with the Focus than the Lemond

Also on the first commute ... realised some things never change
    1. A car ran through a set of lights in front of an ambulance with its sirens blazing
    2. A car beeped me as I was in the right most lane entering Phoenix park from Castleknock ... it was the piece of tarmac from his road tax
    3. And this
    4. I am still starting threads with no reason what so ever .

It happens to the pros too :)
was up in Summit County riding a bit after skiing in the morning, and two people in the space of a couple min honked and waved angrily in my direction for riding a bit more center in the road to avoid the ice and snow glacier on the shoulder.
Another guy a couple weeks ago buzzed us on a farm road in his big truck, gave us a gesture, and then pulled into his house.
