    If I buy a car in the north which has a valid MOT do I have to get an NCT test once I bring it South or can I wait until MOT expiries

    You need an NCT once it arrives here - the MOT is not recognised. This is on the assumption that the car is 4 or more years - otherwise no NCT is required!
