    Hi,

I have been assigned a task by my superior to find the best deal to lease a SMART Car for the company and also for us to have the company logo on the car. ( I am aware of the BIK etc and how its not really a benefical thing to do, this has been explained to superior but still wants to go ahead with it).

Just wondering if you could guide me in the right direction, i had been working in the UK for the past 4 years(just recently back in my homeland, really missed it :-) but the UK have extensive helpfull webistes and Brokers, but i dont seem to be as lucky here in Ireland.

Has anyone any experience in this, is it just as simple as back to baiscs and ringing around? is there any particular business you have used and found them competive? have any of you ever put company logo on your company car? what penalites etc is there? or can logo be easily removed without damaging original paintwork?

Any guideance whatsoever would be appreciated, even if its to say not really many companies around here like that so think you'll have to ring around, thanks for taking the time to read this.

All the best for the New Year.

Just ring the smart dealer and ask them.

Maybe I am cheap, but it would at least be worth looking out for a good deal on a second-hand one. You could wrap the whole car with vinyl if the existing colours didn't suit (talk to a signs place or your graphic designer if the dealer doesn't know anything about this.

I may be wrong but it sounds like this car will be used by the company as a "pool" car rather than assigned to a particular individual, if this is the case then BIK shouldnt apply:

    Cars in "car-pools"

There will not be a charge to tax in respect of a car which is in a "car-pool". A car can be treated as being in a car-pool if:
    • the car is made available to, and is actually used by, more than one employee and is not ordinarily used by one employee to the exclusion of the others, and
    • any private use of the car by the employees is merely incidental to business use, and
    • the car is not normally kept overnight at or in the vicinity of the home of any of the employees.
    quoted from "http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/leaflets/benefit-in-kind/private-use-cars.html#section4"

With regard to applying the company logo to the car, one of the car paint/graphics companies should be able to answer your queries: http://www.visionsign.ie/vehicle-signs.html

For advertising purposes the new Toyota iQ is very novel. Loads of companies have Smarts now.

Try ringing a few Toyota dealers and check out a 1 year lease. It comes in black, white, silver or amethyst.

    Pricey like the Smart though.
