Where IS the music scene in Limerick??

Seriously....I've been living in Limerick for a fair while now....where the **** is the music/metal scene here?

that died a few years back with the closing of the high stool, and even that was full of poser kids towards the end

Its ridiculous really.
I know theres lots of bands around....but nowhere to see them. I tried to put together a few events last year, just unsigned/underground gigs, and NO-where would host it. And I tried everywhere.

Bakers Place is a good spot for live bands!!!

Have you got bands willing to play cos if so i can prob get them gigs in UL via the music society out there...

Had about 20-30 bands willing to play last year, and it went tits up. Even daffys wouldnt take it....christ!

Bakers is your best bet.

There used to be gigs upstairs in Costellos years back.

Always thought the smoking area of Bentleys would make a great venue.

Daffys aren't that interested at the moment as far as i know, You could always try some of the other spots around the place like nancy blakes & if i remember correctly riddlers has recently gone under new management and are interested in having live music...

Pity the pubs are so bad, you'd draw a fair crowd to some decent rock and metal in limerick, the whole place needs a good kick!

Bakers do metal and rock gigs. There is a group putting on gigs called Bad Reputation, keep an eye out because I know they will have a few more metal gigs lined up this year.
The big problem with Limerick is that even when gigs are on, no one shows up. Plenty people complain about it but don't bother showing a bit of support and that's what the place needs to get a venue to keep putting on underground music.

If someone was promoting it, I'd definitly support it. Played in Riddlers before, terrible experience with those guys, so good to know that someone else is running it now....although, he seems more interested in making it into a gay bar. Oh well.

Afaik bakers do a few metal gigs, and they do some good non metal live music in there pretty frequently.

If you find a pub thatl play metal gigs though let me know, id be acheing to go to the gigs.

the music scene in general in limerick is goosed. no pubs interested in having live music. about few years back (showing the ould age here) you had a few places in town for gigs eg nevada smiths (gone), docs (gone), The desmond (gone) royal george (gone) baker place........now there's baker place and smyths (have to deal with an agent to get in the door) and not a lot else really. mojos down on patrick street toyed with the idea of live music, but its run by the same people that had riddlers. gigged there once, wouldnt like the idea of it again

Bakers and Dolans are the only place to play original music in Limerick. If you want to play covers, try the Cuckoo Box (McDaids) or Smyths. But Smyths will only have you if you're a 5 piece.

we were doing gigs on fri and sat and were getting healthy crowds, We were looking for full time slots so they said we could have Sundays so our firts sunday is jan 18 so will known soon

but when the word gets out that you get a free metal gig every sunday then it should pack the place out
