Lining paper or paint on plaster

Hi, I'm looking for some opinions on a couple of questions.......

I'm currently decorating a room. The house is roughly 50 years old and the plaster is in ok condition. It's the old style orangey pink coloured plaster. I want to paint the room. Am I better off just painting the walls or should I put up lining paper (1200) first?

The walls are clean and all nail wholes etc have been filled and sanded, so if I do go ahead and put lining paper up can I wallpaper straight without having to paint the plaster with a primer/sealer (if so, what type of primer would you recommend)?

Also finally can any one recommend a good sealer to seal between the walls and ceiling.

    Thanks for yor time :)
