    Hi WexPatGirl,

I'm kinda in the same boat. I don't know much about either but I posted a thread Yoga/Pilates hoping someone would have advice on the subject. If someone lets me know I'll post it back to you.

    Best of luck

    :)

I only have a minute to Reply and you didn't give any details about what you want to change in your posture. Yoga has many benefits.

Generally speaking for building core strength look at Pilates. There are a lot of good yoga teaches out there and they all have their own style and emphases. It is my belief that Pilates is basically a subset of Hata yoga.

As for changing your posture yoga/pilates may not do much good. You could end up stretching areas that are already long and they don't deal so well with rotations in the body. I like to do Yin yoga from time to time which has a more structural component, you can look it up. I got a DVD on Amazon by Paul Grilley that I like.

For posture changes check into the Alexander Technique which works to re-educate your movement and Rolfing which works on rotations and releases deep tension in your connective tissue. Rolfing made a really big difference to my posture.

    Good Luck
