Do radio DJs actually play music from CDs these days?

Or are they pressing play on their digital jukeboxes like the rest of us?

Just debating the merits of getting CDs pressed for our new release and wondering if potential airplay should be a factor ...

my personal view is the cost of pressing 1000 cds would get you a digital cd printer. you can press your own professional looking cds for about 70 cents each. a decent laser color printer is good enough for printing the artwork.

DJs always like to get cds and they listen to cds quicker then downloading tracks plus its never a bad option to have a few to throw into a few shops as well as some to sell at gigs.

I'm a DJ and in our station, we either play songs from minidisc or CD's.

Thank god for that... I am sick to the teeth of hearing people playing ****ty mp3 files everywhere, not so much on radio but the pub dj's are all playing mp3s... Do these people not hear the horrible horrible ****e tinny sound that a lot of them have?

    Agreed.

However, I think in our case, it may be to save a few quid....;)

On my station a lot of our music programming is centered around specialist music, so the presenters being able to bring in their extensive CD collections is important.

We do have a Wavecart PC loaded with music files (WAV format) that a lot of the more general talk based programmes will use.

Actually, I was sick of one particular programme playing pretty much the same song every time, so yesterday I swapped it out with 'Never Going to Give You Up' on the computer and renamed the file.
