In this months Todays Golfer or Golf Monthly (not sure which) there is a suppliment with it all about playing golf in spain and portugal which might be of interest to you.

Went to Villamoura in Portugal late Feb last year. Was very reasonably priced, 2 championship,1 fine & 1 mediocre course. Weather was varied as you'd expect that time of year. Area was pretty quiet which for our group (all mid 20's) was a slight negative.

We booked through Cassidy Travel. On the whole the service they offered was just ok. They were hard to get through to & slow in returning phonecalls, but the cost was working out the same as if we'd booked it all ourselves, and they delivered a package that was exactly what they promised.

Oceanico themselves offer packages & we're quite prompt with there responses. Was about to switch the package to them until Cassidy's finally returned apologetic phonecall.

Went to Albufeira last year with a group and used GolfAbroad - decent service and were quick to turn it around. We looked at booking directly but the hassle was too much (had to book the flights though!). Played the Old Course, Laguna and Vilamoura. I heard that Oceanico are in trouble now and to avoid these courses (I think they own Lag and Mill) as they only want to herd people on and off and have cancelled all maintenance days - seems very short sighted if they have.

I believe so - Oceanico are effectively a property co and in these times are highly exposed etc etc..... so good non-Oceanico courses are [FONT=&quot]Vila Sol, Pinheiros Altos, Salgados and the Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo courses are all high quality alternatives locally to the Oceanico courses.

This may all be conjecture but will pass it on irrespective.
