Download Flip4Mac. I'm able to watch RTE streams fine with it.

Or Realplayer for mac. That's what I use for RTE.

Ive downloaded this but still no joy, it just shows me the advertismemnt at the start but then nothing??

Yeah sorry, RTE uses Realplayer not WMP.
