im about to get the head gasket changed on my porsche 944.
it's the 8v sohc 2.5l engine. but i'm after coming across a 16v dohc cylinder head in great condition.
im just wondering will the 16v head fit on to the bottom end of the 8v sohc. i heard the bottom ends were the same, but i'd like to check this out as much as possible first before i get anything done on the engine.
also, any tips on where best to get parts for the 944?

In theory a good idea - in practice a disaster waiting to happen !

You will need both manifolds as well as sensors and stuff. You are better to stick in a full engine along with underbonnet loom if you really want to go that way. Its not easy or cheap to extract extra hp out of a NA 944.

Id say your best bet is to fix the engine as is and flog the 16v head.

I get bits and pieces off Bert Gear... This fellow is worth a ring even for advice and is really easy to talk to http://www.partsforporsche.co.uk/

Another fellow I deal with is Johnny Fitsimmins at Agnews in Belfast

    cheers for the great advice.
yeah, gonna stick with the 8v engine. she's more for the driving enjoyment and cruising along in a nice classic than for trying to prove how fast she can go.
would have bought a skyline or impreza if that was the case.
