Does anyone here use Internet Download Manager? Lately its been doing weird things where when it finishes downloading a 200mb file, its status goes to "Rebuilding" and my computer totally churns for a few minutes, I can hear it churning and even a video that is playing will stutter.

It doe not always happen, only sometimes. I'm using IDM 5.12.

    Any ideas?

I use IDM. I'm not sure what the "churning" is. Is this an actual physical sound your hearing or do you mean the machine is just ticking over as a lengthy process? If so it might be the hard drive spinning while is piecing the data saved on to it, together. Any unusual sound coming from a normally peaceful pc, is not good news.

The reason why some video stutters while doing the "rebuilding" is because the IDM process is using (to the maximum level possible) the CPU, RAM etc as it joins all the said collected saved (hard drive) data. As resources are stolen from the CPU for this rebuilding process other applications, especially moving graphic related, will temporarily suffer.

That churning sound (if audible in nature) would worry me to be honest, if it continues. Then I would consider even temp-wise backing-up anything important (which it has to be said for newbies, should be done on a regular basis anyway).

It could be that its moving the files from a temporary directory to the one you picked once they finish downloading? I dunno just a thought :)
